A Letter from Burke’s Program Director
Welcome to the Burke PM&R Residency Program website!
I am excited to introduce our program to you. I hope you learn about our fantastic residents, faculties, curriculum, and more by exploring our site. There are many critical issues for healthcare and our society to achieve. Health equity, aging with minimal disabilities, and chronic disease management are just a few. These issues require high-functioning teams, setting clear goals, and focusing on what matters to the patients. The field of Physiatry has been a leader of medical specialties in implementing patient and family-centeredness, goal-oriented, and interdisciplinary team approach in our service. It is the prime time for you to become a physiatrist who will make our patients, community, and country healthy!
Our program is designed to develop well-rounded trainees competent and confident in PM&R-specific knowledge and skills. In addition, our training program emphasizes the trainees to Think Big and build a career that will benefit the population and society. Our faculties are excellent teachers and dedicated clinicians exemplary in this regard. Our residents are the highlights of our program – a closely-knit group of enthusiastic, caring, and fun individuals. Our graduates have been consistently accepted to the top fellowship programs of all subspecialties and continue to be successful as independent practitioners in academic centers or private practices. Our alums keep in touch with each other and the program, maintaining the lifelong bonds cultivated during training.
As Program Director, I devote myself to creating an environment where trainees learn, progress, and fully realize their potential. We always welcome innovative ideas for effective and efficient learning. (There is no “bad” idea.)
I look forward to meeting students ready to take a professional journey to be physiatrists who will make a difference in patients’ lives and their communities.
With warm regards,
Haris Choudry, MD, MPH
